Angels Among Us – Annual Event

Save the date of December 2, 2010 because that’s when Coles will be hosting the annual Angels Among Us fundraiser for the YMCA. Last year Coles helped raise over $30,000 to support Youth and Family Services programs; and this year we hope to raise even more! This year we will be having a huge silent auction with extensive prizes, a raffle for a chance to win a designer rug, delicious food and drinks, along with carolers to bring in the holiday spirit. Remember, the event will take place on December 2, 2010 from 5:30pm until 8:30pm at Coles Fine Flooring (1170 West Morena Blvd. San Diego, 92110). For information call us at (619) 276-5140. Coles Fine Flooring in San Diego now has a small item drop off station to donate your gently used goods to the Salvation Army. Coles is proud to help the people who make up our community by participating in various public service events for groups such as CALA (Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse), CCMS (Community Council for Music in Schools) and the Music Matters program, the Humane Society , YMCA, and now the Salvation Army. Coles is a family owned and operated business committed to helping the San Diego community, and has done so for over 63 years. George Coles to be chairman for the 24th Annual Fur Ball Gala

George Coles, president of Coles Fine Flooring, will be a chairman for the 24^th annual San Diego Humane

Society and SPCA’s Fur Ball Gala on August 14. The Fur Ball Gala raises funds to support its programs and services for both animals and people in the San Diego region and strives to strengthen the human-animal bond in our community.

This year’s Fur Ball theme is inspired by the old Hollywood style and is being called “Casabarka”. As in previous years, this year’s Gala will feature an amazing assortment of items and lifestyle packages available for purchase in both a live and silent auction. Some of the prizes include a fabulous dinner for 30 at Pamplemousse Grille, a pet-friendly weekend retreat for four guests at a private mountain-top estate in Jamul, a wine party for 10 at Indigo Grill, and even an opportunity for your pet to be the cover model for the San Diego Humane Society’s 2011 calendar!

All net proceeds for this event will benefit the animals and vital community programs and services of the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA. Coles & CALA unite against Lawsuit Abuse

Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA) is celebrating its 15-year anniversary this year, and joining forces with George Coles to promote awareness and open dialogue in a time when we need it most. People across the country are realizing that lawsuit abuse is having a big impact on health care costs, small business survival and overall jobs & economy.

On October 6^th, Coles and CALA are co-hosting an event that features two nationally prominent advocates of legal reform- Hugh Hewitt, a national radio talk show host, law professor, lawyer & author, & Philip K. Howard, author of The Death of Common Sense and Life Without Lawyers: Liberating Americans From Too Much Law. Mr. Hewitt will be broadcasting his radio show live from Coles Fine Flooring. We invite you to be a part of the live studio audience as we discuss the state of lawsuit abuse.

Humane Society Telethon Success

The 2009 Telethon supporting the San Diego Humane Society & SPCA was held Sunday, March 8th. Our own George Coles was an honorary host of the successful event, which raised nearly $300,000!

KSDS Announces 5th Annual “MUSIC MATTERS”

KSDS Jazz 88.3 FM, a broadcast service of San Diego City College, has announced that it will continue the “Music Matters” program in support of music education in local schools for a fifth consecutive year.

For one month, February 1-February 29, San Diegans can donate their used musical instruments at any Coles Fine Flooring location (colesfineflooring.com) in San Diego County, or at the KSDS Business office on the City College campus. All instruments will be completely refurbished by the Community Council for Music in the Schools (CCMS) and then distributed among San Diego City School music programs.

Since introducing the program in 2005, over 240 instruments have been donated to the San Diego City Schools. The goal in 2009 is to match this number of instruments, greatly benefiting school-aged children in San Diego County.

’Music Matters’ is simply another way that we are able to give back to the San Diego Community as well as further music education for young people, ” said Mark DeBoskey Station Manager for KSDS. “The goal of this program is to provide instruments to children who want to play music, yet might not have the financial means to buy their own.”
