How to Get Your Home Ready for Guests During the Holidays

It can be hard to enjoy the holidays when you are running all over your house trying to prepare for your guests. There may be one million things running through your mind and no one in the house seems to want to help. We know the feeling! To make your holiday season easier we’ve compiled a list of four ways you can get your home ready for the busy season ahead.

Upgrade Your Kitchen Appliances
Around the holidays, you may begin to realize that your kitchen appliances aren’t working as smoothly as they used to. Don’t wait until the big day to find out the oven is on the fritz.  Now is the perfect time to upgrade old kitchen appliances. Check out some newly renovated kitchens that you can use for inspiration here.

Rethink your lighting
Changing up your lighting is a fairly easy process that can really work wonders in a room. The best approach to a well-lit space is to incorporate layers of task, accent, ambient, and decorative lighting. Consider upgrading the lighting in your bathroom or kitchen before the holidays. Fast fixes for floors
If you don’t have the time or budget for a full flooring upgrade before the holidays, there are many things you can do to spruce up your current floors. If you have stains on your carpet, consider a new area rug that can hid them and bring new life to a room. An area rug also provides extra seating during the holidays (no one wants to sit on cold, hard floors!). If you have hard surface floors, consider a professional cleaning before the busy season starts to make those floors shine!

If you’re ready to replace what you have, take a look at all of our flooring options here.

Create a hotel-like atmosphere
If you’re hosting holiday guests, you’ll want to create a cozy retreat for them.  Consider new linens, new pillows (guests would really appreciate different firmness levels) and a basket of bathroom toiletries that they may have forgotten. And of course, don’t forget those fresh flowers!
